What about recalls?
It is important to us that only safe products are offered therefore, we will not accept any items that have an open recall.  Consignors must verify that they have checked the recall list prior to bringing in any items (this is on the consignor agreement). We request your help in awareness.  If you hear of a new item recall, please tell us!
The CPSC (U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) offered a clarification to law which releases consignment stores from responsibility but we still feel the urgency make every reasonable effort to not accept unsafe items.
Amber's Turn is an advocate for children’s safety and because of this we simply will not knowingly accept any items found on the recall list.

What is consignment?
Here's a great explanation sourced from Huffington Post: "Consignment shops provide a way for a store to sell [kids items] for you. As the seller, you bring your [items] to the shop and the owner decides how much each piece is worth and prices it accordingly.  When and if a customer buys the [item], the seller and the owner of the shop will each get a profit".  Essentially consignment takes the hassle out of selling things yourself, and you get the benefit of the marketing and customer exposure provided by the store.
* Is consignment the same a thrifting?
The short answer is no. Generally speaking consignment stores have nicer items, compared to the average thrift store. This is because we have the option to handpick the items we accept. In consignment we are selling on behalf of our consignors.  We work with them to curate and select items based on our assortment needs, item condition/quality, and what we know our customers are looking for.
This means that while we offer secondhand, pre-loved goods at AMAZING values, never at full retail, you will not find prices as low as a thrift store.  You will find phenomenal deals on items that have been hand-selected.
* What is the difference between consignment and buying outright?
With consignment, you get paid when the item(s) sell, whereas, buying outright you get paid when you submit the inventory.  These are both good options, depending on what you want.  If you want money instantaneously, buying outright might be good for you.  If you want to earn more money for your item(s) and get the most out of your item(s), consignment might be right for you.  At Amber's Turn we do consignment.
